Contributions, Charges & Personal Item Lists

At Hammond Park Secondary College, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Our goal is to provide a quality education and ensure every learner has access to the resources they need to succeed. To help achieve this, we rely on Department of Education funding as well as the payment of contributions and charges from our families. These contributions directly support the programs, materials and equipment that enhance each student's education.

The Department of Education provides funding to the school based on the number of students enrolled for operational costs including staff salaries, utilities (electricity, water, gas) and facilities management. This funding allows us to maintain core functions of the College.

2025 Contributions, Charges & Personal Item Lists

Contributions and Charges

Financial support from parents/guardians is sought for the purchase of materials, consumables, resources and equipment in courses. The funds collected are used within the school year to ensure students benefit directly from enhanced educational materials, tools and experiences. The costs attracted for contributions, charges and personal item lists are developed collaboratively with Heads of Instruction, the Manager Corporate Services and the Principal. Costs are determined in line with the School Education Act 1999.

Payment of voluntary contributions make a significant difference at Hammond Park Secondary College. They allow the College to add value to our programs, providing a richer educational experience for every student. These funds enable us to purchase items such as course materials and consumables, photocopying, classroom resources, ICT equipment and more.

Certain subjects attract a compulsory charges including elective courses in Years 7 to 10 and courses of studies/qualifications in Years 11 - 12 courses. These subjects often have additional costs and need specialised equipment, resources and textbooks. We aim to keep these charges as nominal as possible, but some programs may incur higher costs due to specific requirements – particularly consumables.

Extra Cost Optional Charges

In accordance with the Western Australian School Education Act 1999, Hammond Park Secondary College may request payment for certain educational activities that go beyond the standard curriculum and are optional for students. These activities enrich learning experiences but may involve additional costs. This includes excursions, camps or special programs. Please note that not all activities will incur a fee, and in many cases, the College will subsidise (reduce) or cover costs. Final charges will only apply at the time of each activity.

Personal Item Lists

Personal Item Lists, also known as booklists, outline the materials, stationery and equipment your child will need to support their learning throughout the year. Personal item lists are designed to ensure students are well-equipped for all classes, and items are carefully selected to ensure learning outcomes in line with our curriculum.
