Thrive Program

Thrive Philosophy

  • The college acknowledges students can achieve excellence through:
    • developing their PERMAH principles
    • a positive wellbeing
    • active participation at each stage of the lesson
    • appropriate curriculum
    • constructive feedback
    • family partnerships
    • community engagement.

  • Supporting our vision to be innovative and do things differently, this program is designed to support students in achieving a WACE at the end of Year 12.

  • Connection between school, workplace and home are critical for some students to achieve success.

The Importance of the Thrive Program 

  • Some students plateau in their achievement or disengage in mainstream.
  • Flexibility needed to meet individual needs.
  • Relationship focus with a smaller group of staff benefits some students in providing the personal attention needed.
  • May improve unresolved attendance or behaviour issues.
  • Individual positive choices lead to success and excellence, an alternative structure can support this.
  • Pathways from Year 10 to 12 courses is critical in supporting students with life after school.
  • Individual Pathway Planning and career exploration assist in goal setting and engagement.
  • The Thrive Program supports our Year 10 vision.

  • Curriculum modified: modified to Thrive community.
  • Parent partnership 
  • Opportunities include participation in The Duke of Ed, potential work experience and leadership activities to support student engagement, growth and development of workplace skills and community engagement.
  • Some students may be on SEN reporting (if needed).
  • Review and exit processes.
